The Numbers
Total oil production from Federal leases was 3.5 million barrels per day in 2023, an all-time high.
Production by lease category is shown below. Onshore oil production on Federal leases has seen a significant relative increase in recent years, driven by activity in the Delaware Basin in New Mexico.
