Monthly U.S. Wind Generation

Highlights:

  • Wind generation in the U.S. in 2024 continues to struggle for any real momentum despite capacity additions, with year-to-date generation only slightly above 2022

  • Using the daily data to calculate May generation, U.S. L-48 wind generation in May was 39,490 MWHrs, down -16.2% versus last month and up 23.1% versus last year

  • Last 12-month U.S. wind generation was 466.3 GWHrs

  • Through March LTM wind generation was down -3.9%

  • Total wind capacity stands at 152,153 megawatts

  • Texas produced 28.4% of U.S. wind generation, which is near all-time highs
