Highlights

  • U.S. oil production has increased in API gravity since 2015

  • The U.S. produces 40 degree oil on average and uses 33 degree

  • To manage the API gravity mismatch, the U.S. imports 25-26 degree oil and exports super light blends

  • U.S. oil production API has come down in recent months as a result of increased 30-40 degree oil production from Texas and increased heavy oil GoM production
