Highlights:

  • EnerWraps wrangles U.S. L-48 daily power data to analyze trends in U.S. power markets, converting the daily data into monthly to get insights before the EIA releases monthly data

  • U.S. L-48 solar generation in December was 12,090 GWHrs, down -8.5% versus last month and up 41.0% versus last year

  • Last 12-month U.S. utility-scale solar generation was 210.6 TWHrs versus 83.5 TWHrs of small-scale

  • Monthly data for October (BTM not available daily) shows U.S. utility-scale solar generation was up 37.8% versus 11.3% for behind-the-meter

  • Through October LTM utility-scale solar generation was up 30.7% versus BTM up 16.4%

  • Total utility-scale solar capacity is currently 132,347 megawatts, while total small-scale solar capacity is 53,351 megawatts

  • Through January 28th, 2025, L-48 utility scale generation is up 59% compared to 2024

ERCOT generated more utility-scale solar power than CAISO in 2024
