U.S. Wind Power Monthly
Winds Of Change As Growth Looks To Pick Up
Highlights:
Wind power generation in the U.S. has generally stalled out over the last year with trailing 12-month generation through April down 3.3%
There may be signs of a change in momentum as April recorded the highest monthly wind power generation on record on the heels of the prior record in March using EIA monthly data
By aggregating EIA daily data we can report June wind power generation was 38,840 MWh up 41% versus last year, another positive sign
The top-20 wind projects in the U.S. had average capacity factors of 54%
Last 12-month U.S. wind generation was 469.4 GWHrs
Total wind capacity is 151,976 megawatts
U.S. operating and planned wind capacity through 2030 totals 173,516 MW
