Winds Of Change As Growth Looks To Pick Up

Highlights:

  • Wind power generation in the U.S. has generally stalled out over the last year with trailing 12-month generation through April down 3.3%

  • There may be signs of a change in momentum as April recorded the highest monthly wind power generation on record on the heels of the prior record in March using EIA monthly data

  • By aggregating EIA daily data we can report June wind power generation was 38,840 MWh up 41% versus last year, another positive sign

  • The top-20 wind projects in the U.S. had average capacity factors of 54%

  • Last 12-month U.S. wind generation was 469.4 GWHrs

  • Total wind capacity is 151,976 megawatts

  • U.S. operating and planned wind capacity through 2030 totals 173,516 MW
